Located in the Upper Annan Valley, Moffat
is an ideal base for touring Scotland, spending a peaceful
few days or stopping off on that long trip to and from
the Highlands.
Within Moffat, which boasts free parking, are all the
trappings of a town steeped in a history of sheep and
wool trading. The famous ram on the Colvin Fountain looks
down on a town that has changed little over the years.
Shops, selling high quality local produce and traditional
Scottish fare to suite all tastes, abound.
Eating out in Moffat is a pleasure with cafes, Restaurants
and Pubs offering meals of a traditional and continental
flavour.
Moffats calendar of events include a Gala Week, a weekend
walking festival, a classic car rally, tennis championships
and an agricultural show.
For arts lovers there is The Moffat Museum and the 'Old
Well' Theatre whose productions include concerts, plays,
musicals, recitals and, of course, a Christmas Pantomime.
The official 'Turning On' of the Christmas lights is
celebrated with a Christmas fair in the High Street and
Hogmany sees pipers and fireworks at the town hall.
Moffat is certainly a twelve month town.
